28 Days Straight-S/T-Tape
I got this demo from a friend of mine, so I don't really know too much about them. There is only 2 songs on the tape, but they are pretty decent songs. 28 Days Straight really remind me of Layaway Plan or Blink 182 in the Cheshire Cat days. Very melodic punk, somewhat upbeat too. I do know that they are from Ontario, but that's about all I can tell you. I cant even tell you where to get this tape from...

Because No One Stopped Us Belvedere-Because No One Stopped Us-CD
This CD is the debut album from these cowtown lover boys and may I say I am very, very impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect from this disc but I am extremely thrilled to have it in my collection. Belvedere speeds up their music on this album which I think is a key reason why I enjoy it so very much. The first song is a tribute to Stone Cold Steve Austin and not to mention a pretty decent song. There is a definite influence of metal, which I believe is due to their new guitarist, Scott. Belvedere mixes raspy vocals with upbeat tempos ala NOFX. If you enjoy Epitaph/Fat style music, be sure to pick up Because No One Stopped Us!

Split The Bonaduces/Bucko-Split-Vinyl
2 pop punk bands singing out 4 love songs. Both sides are equally good. The Bonaduces haven't changed much from their split tape with Behl. As for Bucko, I have never heard them before but they are pretty good

So Be It Closet Monster-So Be It-Tape
This tape is very cool, melodic punk. What is kinda weird is Closet Monster's idea about a perfect government called Uniquealism. It's basically anarchy with total equality. They make it sound very easy. If only it was eh boys. Besides that, the music is superb. I really get a kick out of them. I don't think they try to be too humorous but I always have a little chuckle listening to the singer's voice. They are super cool guys and they have a really good band. If you saw them at the Youth Centre here on June 12 then you would know. If you didn't then fuck off!

Needless To Say Choke-Needless To Say-CD
The 3rd full length CD from Edmonton's Choke and once again they blow me away. The continually get faster and faster with even more technicality. Needless To Say blends lightening fast drumming with child-like lead vocals and amazing backups vocals. I can guarantee you will not find one generic over used riff on this CD, which to me is very important. If you take a listen to all 3 choke CD's you will definitely notice the increase in talent and originality. Not to mention their live show is just insane. I have to say that since I picked up this CD, it has remained glued in my CD player. I believe that Choke has what it takes to make it to the big leagues and Needless to Say is a prime example why.

Guilt Trip Guilt Trip-S/T-Tape
Guilt Trip- S/T This tape is Guilt Trip's first recording but it is rather catchy. It was a good deal too because I just traded Deano for our tape so it didn't really cost me anything. Guilt Trip reminds me of a slower version of Lagwagon. Still upbeat, don't get me wrong, but not incredibly fast. Good harmonies in certain places, not to mention very melodic lead vocals. The only thing that isn't to good about this tape is the recording, but that's alright cause it's just a demo tape.

Warwagon Red Fisher-Warwagon-CD
Winnipeg's own Red Fisher have a very good, pop sort of feel, which is extremely evident on Warwagon. The production of this disc is a lot better than their demo tape, although some of the mixing is a bit cheesy. I'm kinda upset that Red Fisher called it quit after this disc, because now that I cant see them again, I totally want to. There's some pretty cool jazz samples on this disc and plenty of the soothing sounds of Red Fisher. They have a lot of talent and Red Fisher is totally reminiscent of early Trigger Happy, probably because of the fact that Simon Head (Red Fisher's bass player) was a member in Trigger Happy. Totally rad CD so pick it up from G-7.

Quixotic Summerjack-Quixotic-Tape
Summerjack can only be described as one thing: all american punk rock! This tape has 5 rockin songs that are very good (for the US). I personally liked "Mtn. View Bengals". I liked it so much I chose to put it on my upcoming Green Pea Records Compilation. You can definitely hear the yankee accent in the singer's voice. They have a very good drummer which always makes a band that little bit better. I think Summerjack has a new CD coming out soon so I'm looking forward to that. Oh yeah, this is also available on red vinyl.

The 2 Minute Wonder V/A-The 2 Minute Wonder-CD
Wow...two Hourglass CD's being reviewed in one issue... That's gotta be against the law or something. Well anyway, this compilation is totally stacked with rad bands. This Cd is blessed by the presence of Ten Foot Pole, Millencolin, Diesel Boy, 22 Jacks, and even One Shot Left (to mention a few). Altogether there are 23 bands on this comp and almost all the songs are really good. It's kinda funny, but the smaller bands almost stand out more than the bigger bands. The downfalls of this CD are Field Day, Bracket, and the cartoon drawing on the cover. If you can bare looking at the cover than totally buy this compilation as I think it is one of the best comps I have ever listened to.

Expose Yourself V/A-Expose Yourself-CD
Expose Yourself is a compilation put out by Go-Kart Records and Black Rat Recordings. It features many fine bands, but for some reason, with all the talent featured, this CD just doesn't have a very good groove to it. Some of the better bands are 22 Jacks, Strife, Limp, and The Aquabats. Strife and Limp stand out the most by far. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm sure glad I got the comp for free. The fact is, there are only 4 or 5 songs out of 28 that are decent! So I guess you can make the call on this one.
